As I look at the live video feed of oil spewing into the ocean and the photos of the feverish attempt to clean up such a mess, I get angry. I don't want to support this anymore. I didn't want to support it to begin with since oil is a finite source of energy, a cause of global conflict and used to create the most ecologically unfriendly products, but what choice did I have?
I can't afford to buy everything organic or biodegradable; I can't sacrifice so much time to making everything from scratch that I would usually buy in plastic. I believed I had to be totally uncomfortable to make the switch to living a greener lifestyle.
Turns out some things are a little too easy. One of my first eco-explorations will be cleaning your house. At the core of this subject will be vinegar. Glass bottle, been around for ages, has secret super-powers vinegar. You really can't get much easier/convenient/cheaper than that. But I'll bring up all those things in a future post.
For now, it's time to stop being afraid of change because it's a lot easier and less scary than what the future will be without it. (Picture Rob Schneider and/or Adam Sandler standing near you shouting, 'You can do eet!)
